Phillies@Giants

Game 1: With Roy Halladay on the mound, the Phils looked to right the ship once again. It was not meant to be as he got "roughed up." The offense could only muster 1 run as Roy Halladay allowed 5 ER in 7 innings. The Giants scattered their runs over 8 innings and Jonathon Sanchez stifled the offense. This outing rose Halladay's ERA from 0.82 to 1.80! Unacceptable, except it is so it makes me that much more excited for his next start. Also, the offense had plenty of chances. They loaded the bases in the 3rd, 5th, and 7th. Ben Fransisco was actually the one who recorded the final out in all three of those innings. They could not get that big hit, and haven't been in a while. Giant twads 5-1

Game 2: Another late-nighter that disappointed. The offense scored 2 runs off of Todd Wellemeyer, who pitched 7 innings. There's a slump and then there's that. There's just no excuse for that. Jamie Moyer pitched 6 innings of 4-run ball. It should have been enough and it wasn't because the Phillies offense was almost nonexistent once again. Only one picture because there wasn't much to see, except this incredible DP turned by Castro and Utley. Giant twads 6-2

Game 3: It seemed like it would be a sweep for the Giants with Tiny Timmy Lincecum on the mound for them. The Phillies had Cole Hamels, but it didn't seem like a game they were meant to win. The Phillies actually scored first on a solo Ryan Howard homerun. That lead lasted all of 5 minutes as the Giants tied the game in the bottom the frame (5th inning). Cole Hamels pitched 6 innings, striking out 10 but allowing 4 earned runs. Three of those runs came in the sixth with a bases loaded walk followed by a 2-run bloop single. The offense went quietly in the 7th and 8th but came to life in the 9th. After Lincecum walked Shane Victorino on four pitches with one out, he was pulled from in game in favor of Brian Wilson. Chase walked, Ryan walked, and Jayson Werth worked a full count that ended with a bases clearing double down the line. The game was tied an the Phillies had come from behind. Dave Herndon pitched a scoreless 9th, the Phillies scored 1 in the top of the 10th but it was all for naught as Ryan Madson blew the save. In the top of the 11th the Phillies scored 2 runs of off a Valdez double and an error by Eugenio Velez. Nelson Figueroa came into get the save, which sounds easier than it was. He allowed one run and would have blown the save had Ryan Howard not thrown a runner out at home (play really made spectacular by Brian Schneider). <-- I never thought I would type that. It was a hard earned win that the Phillies had no right to win. They caught some lucky breaks and finished the road trip 4-5. Phillies 7-6

Golden Girls Quote of the Day:

Rose: "We really enjoyed your lecture on modern sculpture."
Laszlo: "I didn't think anyone was paying attention."
Rose: "Oh, we sure were, especially Dorothy. She even talked about taking up sculpting."
Laszlo: "Really?"
Dorothy: [laughing] "Oh no, I didn't."
Rose: "Yes you did! You said you'd like to help him mold his clay or buff his marble anytime!"
