Phillies vs. RedSox

Game 1: First game of interleague play and it had a lot of positives and one BIG negative. Cole Hamels gave up a solo homerun in the first and dominated for the next six innings. All in all his line was fantastic: 7 IP, 3 Hits, 1 ER, 1 BB, and 8 SO. The offense gave him plenty of support. Ryan Howard tied the game at 1 with a solo homerun and Shane Victorino gave them a lead with an RBI single. Jayson Werth patted the lead with a MAMMOTH homerun. It was absolutely crushed. The bullpen decided to make it close in the 9th when they loaded the bases with 2 outs and David Ortiz at the plate. JC Romero got him to fly out to deep center; Shane Victorino made the catch at the warning track. It was a pretty complete game. The only thing that dampened the victory was Jimmy Rollins' exit in the 6th. He left with a right calf strain--the same one that saw him miss all but one week of the season. He was placed on the 25-day DL. Phils 5-1

Game 2: 1 hit (in the 8th inning) off of a guy who came in with an ERA over 7. Nothing to see here. Oh yeah, Kyle Kendrick started. He wasn't bad, but he wasn't good. It's hard to win when you score zero runs. Thank you Juan Castro for not embarrassing the team. Being no-hit is awful, being perfect-gamed is even worse. Just ask the Rays. RedSox 5-0

Game 3: They got a hit in the first inning and got that over and done with quickly. Tim Wakefield, a guy who came in with an ERA over 5, dominated the Phillies for 8 innings, allowing 5 hits, and no runs. Roy Halladay started for the good guys and got knocked around a bit. He went 6 1/3 allowing 6 ER. Greg Dobbs is getting all my hate right now. He's becoming pretty useless. He's not hitting and playing atrocious defense. I love Roy and hate seeing the offense not support him. Don't regret coming to Philadelphia, please! The offense did score in the 9th (Raul got an RBI double and Ross Gload hit a 2-run HR), but it was too late. SIGH. SIGH. SIGH. SIGH. SIGH. SIGH. SIGH. Need to score for Roy. He can't be expected to pitch a CG shutout everytime he takes the hill. RedSox 8-3

Golden Girls Quote of the Day:
Dorothy: Now look, all this nonsense has to stop, Rose. What we saw was not a UFO.
Rose: Well, it wasn't a plane. Planes aren't that thin, or that bright.
Dorothy: Neither is Oprah Winfrey, but that doesn't make her a flying saucer.
