Phillies@Rockies

Game 1: The Phillies returned to Colorado for the first time since beating them in the NLDS last year. It was also the first return in the regular season--Harry Kalas' last game. That's actually sad and depressing. But onto the actual game. Kyle Kendrick started for the Phillies and kind of like Cole except worse, it's kind of a coin toss on what kind of game you're going to get from them. Luckily, Kyle was decent. He went 6 innings and gave up 4 ER. He's a 4/5 guy in the rotation so he just has to NOT implode and give the offense a chance. It was back and forth early on. At one point, the Rockies took a 4-3 lead. It didn't last long as the hot-hitting Carlos Ruiz tied it in the 6th inning with a solo homerun. It stayed tied until the 9th when the Phillies had 1st and 2nd with one out and Chooch at the plate. He actually got to the plate because Jim Tracy intentionally walked Raul Ibanez. Talk about a BIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGGGGGGG mistake. Of course, Chooch came through and delivered with an RBI single. Ross Gload was up to bat and hit a 3-run PH homerun. It essentially put the game out of reach as Jose Contreras had a relatively easy bottom of the 9th and cemented the victory. Phils 9-5

Game 2: PPD. They scheduled a double header for the following day and the game was played at 3:40. Roy Halladay was starting for the Phillies and Aaron Cook for the Rockies. Advantage Phils right? It wasn't that easy. Roy Halladay gave up 1 ER in the first and the Phillies came back to tie it in the 4th on a Jayson Werth double. They actually took a 3-1 lead in the 5th but with some shaky defense in the 7th, Roy Halladay gave up 2 runs (1 earned) and was done after 6 1/3 innings. It was his shortest outing this season. I think he could have gone 7 but it is what it is. It stayed tied until Miguel Olivo (who was already 4-4 in the game) hit a leadoff homer on the first pitch against Chad Durbin in the 10th. I just feel like when Halladay starts and the opposing team sends out Aaron Cook, there's no reason they should lose. Sigh--we'll get 'em next time. Chooch also left the game with a bum knee and is listed as day-to-day. Rockies 4-3

Game 3: PPD due to rain. Fuck Denver and their shitty May year round weather. No date was announced. Only good thing to come out of it is rest for the bullpen and Chooch. Reports are saying Jimmy will be back in time for the next homestand. Woo!
