Phillies@Braves

Game 1: UGLY! I mean, Kyle Kendrick finally pitches a really solid game and the bullpen Ryan Madson blows it. I said it in the previous series, the Phillies played, I do not trust Ryan Madson as the closer. Eight solid innings from Kyle Kendrick with no runs allowed wasted when Ryan Madson allowed a 2-run homerun to Troy Glaus and a solo from Jason Heyward to tie it. The Braves would eventually go on to win it in the bottom of the tenth with a walkoff homer from Nate McClouth. It was just pretty gross to see the game play out and end the way it did after a strong effort from Kendrick and the offense. Braves 4-3

Game 2: Roy Halladay! He has a breath of fresh air after that atrocious loss. I've never seen someone make it look so effortless and easy. He has plenty of confidence and was just exactly what the Phils needed. Roy got a lot of help from his defense: Shane robbed Troy Glaus of a game-tying homer early in the game, Chase made a diving catch to start a double play, which would have tied the game in the 7th and preserved the shutout. The offense did just enough by scoring two runs; the RBIs credited to Raul Ibanez and Jayson Werth. This was a pretty great game all around. Only glitch, Placido Polanco left in the 7th inning with a bruised elbow; here's hoping it's not serious and he just needs a couple of days of restHalladay went the distance, the Phillies defense was above and beyond, and they did not let the loss from game 1 affect their attitude going into this game. Roy Halladay is a bona fide ace and it's quite a giddy feeling knowing that it's a a 99% guaranteed win when he takes the mound. Swoon! I am in love! Phillies 2-0

4-0, 0.82 ERA
Game 3: The Phillies turned to Jamie Moyer for the series finale and he did not disappoint. He went six innings allowing two UNearned runs--on two Chase Utley throwing errors. The offens e would provide plenty of run support for the social security-collecting, young at heart, geriatric. Juan Castro is proving to be a fine substitute for Jimmy Rollins at short. He continued his offensive efficiency with three hits and an RBI; his solid defense is an added bonus and cushions the blow from losing Jimmy. Greg Dobbs started in place of the ailing Polanco; he filled in well and collected two hits. Phillies 8-3

Good news heading into the game is that JC was activated from the DL. Bad news is that JA Happ was placed on that DL retroactive to last Friday; he could be activated as soon as May 1st. Brad Lidge also pitched a scoreless inning with a BB for Lehigh Valley. He cannot come back soon enough. Once everyone comes back healthy, I think all the pieces will fall into place and this team will be better than they are now. That's a scary and exciting thought.

Golden Girls quote of the day:
Blanche: "There is a fine line between having a good time and being a wanton slut. I know. My toe has been on that line."
